MTV Buzzworthy Gives Great Review of “Elephant”
Filed Under: Albums,News With Comments Off

MTV Buzzworthy has given Alexandra’s new single “Elephant” a great review on their website.

Calling it a new “giant-size dance floor anthem”, its definitely a review worth reading. Massive thanks to the entire MTV crew for the great words!

t’s been just over a year since “X Factor UK” Season 5 winner Alexandra Burke released her last single, “The Silence,” as she’s busily been recording the follow-up to her No. 1 2009 studio album, Overcome. Now, she’s returning in a massive way (PUN!) with “Elephant,” crafted by acclaimed dance producer Erick Morillo (Reel 2 Real).

The giant-size (PUN!) dance-floor anthem finds Burke breaking against the pressure of a relationship on the rocks. “There’s an elephant standing in the room/Although we’re all alone, it’s not just me and you,” she croons off the top of the chorus. Packed full of scorching arena-size synthesizers, crystalline Auto-Tuned vocals, and early ’90s vibrations (no doubt Morillo’s influence), the production is fairly off-the-walls — but in a best way possible. While the song only hit radio last week, one thing seems fairly certain: It’s going to be big. (PUN!!!).

Alexandra ‘Talks About It’ w/ Digital Spy
Filed Under: Albums,Interviews With Comments Off

In a new interview with Digital Spy, Alex talks about the new single “Elephant” & the ASDA Tickled Pink Charity Concert this Thursday night.

She also spoke on the writing process of the new album and the plans to bring everything over to America.

This was a great interview & a real breath of fresh air for all of the Beasties eagerly awaiting the sophomore album.

It’s a big week for you, Alex – how excited are you to be premiering ‘Elephant’?
“Oh my God babe, I’m completely over the moon! I’ve been waiting to for so, so long. I’ve been recording the album for over a year and I’m now at the point where I need to give my fans the music. As much as I really wanted to get it out there, I needed it to be perfect. First single, I needed to be comfortable with it 100%. I’m positive that, hopefully, you guys are going to love it. What’s great is that the remix got played on Pete Tong’s show the other day. The reaction to it… well, I didn’t expect that reaction!”

How does the official single version compare to the remix we heard?
“Well when you hear the single mix, it all ties in. It all makes sense. But it’s different, it’s really different to the remix. Everyone has given me such a beautiful reaction to the remix, but I’m like, ‘What are they going to think of the actual single?’. It’s still nerve-wrecking, but exciting.”

We’ve established what the song is about from some of the lyrics already, but what can you tell us?
“Basically, when everyone heard the title of the track was ‘Elephant’, it got them talking about London Zoo! I feel like everyone will be able to relate. Everyone has been through something in relationships; whether it be with a loved one, a partner or family members where something needs to be discussed – and I’ve been through that situation. I thought why not, let’s do a song about it – but with a twist! The saying, ‘There’s an elephant in the room’ is very, very American. When I was doing the writing camp earlier this year, it was with a lot of Americans. When that came about, I thought it was really interesting because they say it a lot. So, I thought I can be that girl, that person that brings that saying over here to make it a little bit more UK.”

Alex Speaks With ‘Daily Star’ On New Material
Filed Under: Albums,News With Comments Off

Alex recently spoke with Daily Star about her brand new album + sound as well as speakinga bout DJ Erick Morillo, who she’s been working closely with.

Check out what she had to say and when we should be expecting new material below!

Alexandra Burke is ready to make her a big comeback with help from Colombian DJ legend Erick Morillo. And the former X Factor champ also wants another crack on the judging panel of telly’s top talent show.

Alex told me: “I’ve been doing some amazing stuff with him in LA. One track in particular is very special.

“Erick is a very talented producer and I’m sure I will be working with him a lot. “It’s not strictly a banging album. It’s fun, loud, up-tempo, in your face, it has a lot of colours.

“It’s very different to Overcome. This one is a bit more womanly, sexier. I’ve taken more risks.

“I’ve done six albums- worth of songs. Hopefully it will be out for Easter.”

She said: “X Factor was insane, I got the call four hours before we went on air. “I was shopping for my little brother for his birthday, so I was very nervous. It was an honour. I’d love to do it again.”

Alex Pushes Album Back To 2012 & News
Filed Under: Albums,News With Comments Off

Alexandra spoke with popular online website DigitalSpy about plans for her sophomore album – which she has now confirmed to be released in 2012.

She also revealed exclusively that she is executive producing this album, meaning nothing gets by without her say.

Alex let out that there are still definite plans to have a single out this year, and maybe we should be expecting something by the end of the year.

Alexandra Burke has confirmed that she has decided to push back the release of her second album to 2012.

The ‘Start Without You’ star, who previously denied speculation that the collection would not hit shelves before the end of the year, confirmed that she is currently putting the finishing touches to the record.

“It’s going well,” Burke told Digital Spy. “I’m actually pushing the album to next year. I’ve decided to. I know I had a big old rant on Twitter and was like, ‘I’m not pushing it to next year’, but I don’t want to rush.

“I actually want to have a couple of singles out before I release the album. I’m at the moment considering whether to bring the single out at the end of this year – so we will see what happens.”

“I’m just putting my little thing on it. I’m executive producer of this album, so I don’t want it to go wrong,” she revealed, explaining: “I oversee absolutely everything. Nothing passes my ears. I hope you guys love it as much as I love creating it.”

On collaborations being featured on the record, Burke teased: “There will be surprises, but I can’t say what. Hopefully you guys will all be very intrigued.”

Alex Speaks With ‘Body Confidential’
Filed Under: Albums,Interviews With Comments Off

During the Skyride press conference, Alexandra spoke with Body Confidential about the forthcoming studio album and the next single which she says will be uptempo.

In addition to great album news, she also opens up about family and making her voice known and leaving her former record label, Syco.

“This album is quite uptempo. All my singles apart from ‘Hallelujah’ and ‘The Silence’ have been up-tempo. It’s just who I am. I love to dance.

“This album is gonna be a lot sexier. I’ve taken loads of risks with it and I’m the executive producer too. With the first album when songs were being mixed, Simon was the one who picked the track listing. But with this one, I haven’t let anything go past these ears. I approve everything.

“The first single is in the mix. I’m yet to decide which one of two songs it will be. One’s a duet and one’s not. When they’re both mixed I’ll have to see which one sounds amazing in my car because that’s the best way to test it. In a couple of weeks it will be on the radio. The album is now completely finished. It’s got a couple of names at the moment, but we haven’t done the track listing yet.”

I suggest the name ‘The Beast’. After all, this is the nickname Alex has given to her stage persona and the fans are lapping it up, despite somewhat unflattering connotations.

“I don’t care” she laughs, “I’ll be that beauty and that beast babe. I call my fans the beasties and they love it. They call me Mama Beast.”

The Beast certainly means business when it comes to pleasing fans. And that’s why she’s keen to let me know of her plans for world domination, by touring and maybe one day teaming up with her idol, Beyonce.

“I’m in the process of planning my tour. There’s definitely going to be a tour next year. I really wanted to open Beyonce’s last tour for her but my first album wasn’t ready at the time. You never know though, one day we might do a duet. God willing.

“I can’t wait to go to the States next year and hopefully do loads of promo. My biggest dream is to break the States.”
