Digital Spy interviewed Alexandra earlier today about her brand new single “Broken Heels” as well as about other topics like JLS, and producer Red One. Take a read below to see what Alex had to say before starting the European Tour tomorrow!
Last time out she was flirting with ‘Bad Boys’, but Alexandra Burke’s using her latest single – a Red One-produced pop stomper called ‘Broken Heels’ – to salute the ladies. They can do what the fellas can do, apparently, and they can do it even better in broken heels. (Just watch you don’t give yourself an injury trying, girls!) Anyway, as the X Factor star guns for her third No.1 in a row, we decided it was about time for a little catch-up.
» Is it fair to call ‘Broken Heels’ a “girl power anthem”?
“Yes. When I first met RedOne, he said to me, ‘You seem like a strong woman’. I was like, ‘I try my best to be one, but I know I’m only human’. He suggested that I express that in a song and that’s how ‘Broken Heels’ came about. It’s been exciting to do ‘Bad Boys’, which was obviously about loving bad boys, and then move on to a girl power thing. I’m giving the best of both worlds and definitely not being sexist!”
» It’s made the top ten the week before release, but where are you aiming for now?
“Do you know what, I never have any expectations of where I’d like my song to go. All I know is the label would love it to get to where they want it to be! I’m more into the vibe where I appreciate if people are actually liking the song. I’m seeing a great reaction with ‘Broken Heels’ so far, so I’m really happy with how it’s all going.”
» As you mentioned earlier, ‘Broken Heels’ was produced by Lady GaGa’s producer RedOne. What’s he like to work with?
“He’s an amazing producer, very talented, but he’s a lovely guy too and his family are beautiful people. I don’t know, I just get along with him. Me and him have this… hmm… not an odd connection, but a great connection. He got me from the get go and I got him, so it’s really special to work with him. He doesn’t have to work with me - he chooses who he works with now - so I’m very grateful that we’re still collaborating.”
Alex was interviewed shortly before her performance at the Manchester Christmas Lights Ceremony back in November 2009 - check out this quite funny & cute interview that she did! Alex speaks on the album, X Factor, and much more! Enjoy guys.
Alex appeared on T4’s Christmas Special on December 27th where she was interviewed. During the interview, she spoke on her Holiday festivies and slight hangover lmao! We know how that goes! This interview was yet another great one! Check it out if you haven’t already done so.
INCREDIBLE! Alexandra has wowed once again! This time, with an outstandingly beautiful winter photo shoot with photographer Dan Smith for the current issue of Fabulous Magazine and this, to me, has been the BEST article/interview yet!
I can’t even begin to explain how much I absolutely love this new photo shoot - I think our girl looks simply radiant and elegant, especially the alter-ego shot, where Alex portrays A*SWAGGG! Loves it! Enjoy it all below guys!
ALEX IN WONDERLAND: Alexandra Burke throws her head back and lets out a loud, throaty yelp, which sets the glass chandeliers tinkling. The biggest thing about her, apart from her Amy Winehouse-style hair for our shoot, is the enormous grin on her face. We’re sitting in the grandest, most opulent house in London, and we’ve just told her she’s one of our Fabulous Women of the Year. The word ecstatic doesn’t quite cover it.
Alex starts to jump up and down. “Thank you, thank you!” she squeals. “It’s been an unbelievable year. Huge ups, huge downs - but I wouldn’t swap it for anything. I’ve got the fairy tale and I’m holding on to it by the throat. I’m not letting go for anyone or anything.”
When it came to picking a female celeb who has made the most of ‘09, last year’s X Factor winner topped the bill. In just 12 months, the 21 year old has scored the biggest reality single of all time (Hallelujah sold an amazing 576,000 copies in its first week), has befriended Beyoncé (she has her number in her BlackBerry, don’t cha know), jetted to LA to record her debut album, and has been the grateful recipient of a mountain of designer clothes. Jealous, us?
“Kate Moss told me not to accept everything,” she giggles. “But I haven’t taken her advice. When it comes to freebies, I’m the girl who can’t say no!”
Earlier today, Alexandra appeared on the Paul O’Grady Show where she performed “Broken Heels” and sat for to me, my favorite interview of hers! Alex & the bad girls gave a spicy performance for the audience & Mr. O’Grady, who wen wild afterwards!
For the interview, Alex spoke on duetting with boyband JLS at this years X Factor final as well as the video creation process for “Broken Heels”. The cutest moment though, was the “Star For A Night” segment, where Alex appeared on when she was just 12 years old! She performed “You Might Need Somebody” and her reaction to the footage is AMAZING! I absolutely loved it! Check it all out below!
Today, Alex stopped by BBC Radio 1 to appear on the Greg James Show - and the interview was quite hilarious! I loved it - especially the part with guessing X Factor voices….she is so funny! Below, you can listen to the interview + “Broken Heels”. Lovely as always.
