All I can say to this headline is “wow”. I am absolutely floored by Alexandra’s braveness to step up in the biggest way possible and to volunteer to fly down to Haiti to help out with the relief cause. Words can’t even describe how absolutely proud I am of her for this. We need more people in the world like this - honestly. God bless you Alex!

Alexandra Burke is jetting off to Haiti on Monday.

The X Factor 2008 winner wants to see the devastation caused by last month’s earthquake first hand.

‘When [I was] asked if I would go to see the things for myself, I didn’t hesitate,’ Alex tells The Sun.

‘If I can raise awareness about how much support is needed then I’m there in a heartbeat.

‘I don’t think anyone can prepare for what it’ll be like but I’ll try to be strong.’

Alexandra, 21, features on Simon Cowell’s charity cover of REM’s 1993 hit Everybody Hurts in aid of victims of the Haiti earthquake.
The song will be available to download from 7 February.

All proceeds go to the Disasters Emergency Committee and The Sun’s Helping Haiti campaign.

Alexandra has voiced her desire to travel to Haiti to help out with the relief efforts there. She spoke to Digital Spy about it and I think this is amazing of her to want to go and help out.

Alexandra Burke has said that she would like to play a hands-on role in the Haiti relief efforts.

The X Factor winner has already teamed up with a group of other stars to record a charity single for the country’s earthquake victims.

The fundraising project is being masterminded by Simon Cowell, who has also recruited Mariah Carey, Robbie Williams and Kylie Minogue for the cover of REM’s ‘Everybody Hurts’ among others.

Burke told the Daily Star: “I would drop anything for Simon. I flew back from Vienna to record and I’d like to go to Haiti and do what I can.”

The star’s fellow X Factor champion Joe McElderry recently expressed similar sentiments, saying that he would love to “go over and help” in Haiti

According to STV.TV, music mogul Simon Cowell is in talks to record a charity single for the recent Haiti earthquake victims. Singers Alexandra Burke, Leona Lewis, Cheryl Cole & Susan Boyle are already said to be a part of it. I really hope this is true! Would be amazing.

X Factor boss Simon Cowell has announced that he will be making a charity record to raise millions for the survivors of the Haiti earthquake.

The entertainment mogul hopes to have some of the world’s top stars perform on the Band Aid-style charity single.

Simon has revealed that he plans to take just 72 hours to record the charity single and the mogul has already secured the services of Susan Boyle, Leona Lewis and Alexandra Burke, according to the Daily Star.

Cowell said: “I will be putting the calls in today to start rounding people up.

“Because of the time we have to do it, we will be recording it around the world. The song will be a cover and I have two in mind - but I don’t know which one yet.

“We will get it done.”

It has been reported that Cowell will also approach U2, Robbie Williams, Whitney Houston and Take That to perform on the single.

Cheryl Cole has also given her support to the project.

The Girls Aloud star said: “It’s an amazing idea. We need to do all we can to help.”
