Alex has just been named one of the headline acts at this year’s In:Demand (Glasgow) Live gig. Alex will perform alongside The Saturdays, Tinchy Stryder, Professor Green, Alyssa Reid and more on May 20th in Glasgow.
If you’re interested in purchasing tickets to the show, be sure to head over to TICKET SOUP and stay tuned to In:Demand Scotland for the latest
THE Saturdays and Alexandra Burke head the big-name line-up for this year’s In:Demand Live.
Other stars on the bill are Professor Green, Tinchy Stryder and Alyssa Reid.
Scotland’s biggest pop music event, in conjunction with Scottish Hydro, will take place on May 20 at Glasgow’s SECC and the bill is one of the best we’ve seen.
Last year’s performers – including The Wanted, The Saturdays, Alexis Jordan, The Feeling, Wretch32, Example, Her Majesty and the Wolves and Yasmin – put on a show to remember at the pop fest which is broadcast on Bauer radio across Scotland.
Again, thousands of music fans will be able to see and hear their favourite artists in the flesh as they perform live.
And if Alexandra Burke has her way, a collaboration could be on the cards with a certain bunch of pop minxes. Elephant singer Alex, who told The Razz she’s always thrilled to have an excuse to come to Scotland, admitted she’d love to team up with other female performers to sing an anthem. She said:
“There is enough room for everyone in the music industry, particularly for females who should support one another. “Wouldn’t it be amazing if every solo artist out there was happy to do a big fat collaboration with another female?
“It would be amazing, although I doubt it would happen – maybe for charity or something. It would be great to get together with people like Adele, Jessie J, Emeli Sande, Pixie Lott and other girls with big voices.”
Step forward, The Saturdays… we’ll keep our eyes open backstage for any developments!
This time round it’s anybody’s guess what they’ll get up to – especially if Alexandra sells them on her collaboration idea.
Look out for new talents like Alyssa Reid, who had a hit with single Alone Again ft. P. Reign. And stay tuned to The Razz for all the big stories.
In:Demand host Romeo said: “We’ve got some of the hottest stars in UK pop in there. Alexandra Burke is a great live performer and her single Elephant will have the SECC going wild.
“Its great to see some previous artists coming back and I can’t wait to unveil the next bunch of big names.”
Alexandra Burke’s single “Elephant” ft. DJ Erick Morillo has officially debuted on the UK singles charts at Number 3. The single came behind Nicki Minaj’s “Starships” and Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used To Know”.
However, the single is NUMBER 1 on the official dance charts.
We are so extremely proud of Alexandra at this moment. Everything happens for a reason and this is no exception.
AB performed the single live at Radio 1′s Chart Show with Reggie Yates as well and we’ve added the first photos from her visit. Keep checking back for the live performance (video).
Alex visited the official charts studios in London on March 15th where she spoke about her current NO.2 position in the official midweeks charts, the general sound of the new album, her biggest influences for the album and lots more.
“I’ve been out of the game for a year and a half recording [my] second album and to come back and for [Elephant] to be at Number 2 at this stage is a really big achievement,” she said. “I’m really grateful to all of those who have supported me, but most of all my amazing fans who go so hard for me, it’s unreal!”
“It’s very nerve racking, I’m very nervous full stop!,” she said. “But my mum always says to me ‘having nerves shows that you care’, so I guess I’ll worry the day that the nerves go away! Now? I want them to stay, right here in my heart.”
To find out where she ends up on the charts (hopefully that NO.1 slot) – tune in to Radio 1′s “Official Chart Show” on Sunday, March 18th at 7pm!
Alexandra is back over at Yahoo! OMG UK this week for another edition of “Alex’s Chart Chat” and this week it’s all about Rizzle Kicks, Dappy and LMFAO. Check out what she had to say about this week’s charts below.
So one of the best new singles this week in at No.2 is the Dappy and Brian May track ‘Rock Star’ – this is a collab I never thought would happen! It’s a big tune, I love the song and I’m surprised it’s not at No.1 yet. Dappy is a lovely boy and he deserves the success, it’s good for him to come away from N-Dubz and be doing his own thing, but also sticking to his roots.
One of my favourite songs out there at the moment is the David Guetta ft Sia Titanium track, I was singing along to it earlier in my car and it’s so catchy!
The whole dance music sound seems to be infiltrating itself into all forms of commercial music at the moment, obviously my track feeds into this idea and I think it’s all about music that can keep you on the dancefloor!
LMFAO seems to have the Midas touch at the mo, it’s been hanging around for weeks now – 26 weeks to be precise! It’s clearly a song that sticks in your head and I personally think it is not gonna go anywhere for a while!
Bit of a random one but Meatloaf is No.5 in the midweeks and it just goes to show that nothing can hold down a heritage act like that! Even though the charts are very much dominated by all these newcomers and pop acts it just goes to show what a loyal fanbase can do for you!
The Rizzle Kicks boys have jumped up 5 places in the album charts and I LOVE their music, I think it’s fresh and interesting and they just don’t care what people think! I love the way they shoot their videos it’s just wicked!
So that’s all for this week….tune in next week when I’ll be about to predict what’s gonna happen with my single!

AB is back with Yahoo! OMG! for another week of “Chart Chat” where she sums up the weekly album and single sales. Who were this weeks biggest sellers? Who made music headlines? Make sure you read all she had to say below:
Hey everyone it’s Alex here again for another round up for this week’s Chart Chat with Yahoo omg!
So, unless you were sitting underneath a rock somewhere over the last week, then you would have noticed one of the biggest events in the music industry took place last week – The Brits 2012!
I went along and it was a truly glittering affair, and there were so many familiar faces in one room it was brilliant to see everyone having fun and enjoying what we all love most – the music.
Needless to say, these events have a huge affect on the singles and albums chart and you only have to look at how the charts have reacted this week to realise the power of the whole event!
If you look at the Top 10 albums sales this week there have been some huge jumps numbers-wise for a lot of artists who were at The Brits. Adele jumped straight back up to the No.1 spot (will anyone ever manage to take the crown from her – this woman is unstoppable!), Emeli Sande and Ed Sheeran are keeping up appearances in the Top 3, and artists such as Coldplay jumped up four places. The Florence and The Machine album ‘Ceremonials’ had a massive leap and jumped up 14 places so I bet they had a few drinks to celebrate! It makes me proud to be a UK artist when we have so much great British music flying the flag!
Adele, Ed, Coldplay and Florence all performed on the night and the performances were all great – just goes to show how much people really feed off a live performance. There’s nothing better than going to see your fave artist on a big stage and having a dance with all your girls! People totally feed off the buzz. I must admit I really enjoyed Ed’s performance – it was just really simple and him down to a T. You couldn’t move for chatter about The Brits on Twitter and Facebook that evening and my whole timeline was full of people commenting on the outfits, who looked the best, whose performance was the best and so on.
Aside from all the Brit’s contenders there haven’t been a huge amount of new entries, aside from one notable one which was Gym Class Heroes feat. Neon Hitch ‘Ass Back Home’ in at No.9. I haven’t seen or heard much about these guys for a while so this was one that caught my attention. I’ll be intrigued to see how this does over the next few weeks.
And of course save the best until last – the No.1 record this week is my FAVOURITE song at the moment; Gotye with ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’. I know I waxed lyrical about this track last week but I just can’t get enough of it! It’s so good! Hopefully it will still be up there flying the flag when next week comes!
Join Alexandra Burke every week as she blogs with Yahoo! OMG! with her thoughts on the weekly Top 40 charts.

Hi guys, it’s Alexandra Burke here and I’m raring to go with my exclusive new Chart Chat for Yahoo! omg! Join me every week as I give you the lowdown on what I think about the official Top 40 with Alex’s Chart Chat!
This week there have been some storming new entries and the No.1 is that DJ Fresh and Rita Ora song ‘Hot Right Now’ which I think is a really unusual collaboration artist-wise, but I think the track is a great blend of sounds and I really do like her as a vocal artist. I’ve known of Rita for a couple of years and she reminds me a bit of Rihanna, she has a similar swag to her and of course they are from the same family – the famed Roc Nation!
As for DJ Fresh, this man is on a roll! This is his second No.1 single after his track ‘Louder’ went to No.1 back in July last year. I’m intrigued to see what else is to come from this man!
I’m also over the moon for Emeli Sande for getting the No.1 spot in the albums chart! I’m a huge fan of hers and I really respect her as she just does her thing, and I really hope the album stays at the No.1 spot for a while. ‘Daddy’ is one of my favourite tracks on the album and her voice is just flawless. I worked with Emeli on my album, and again I was just so impressed with her talent. She must be absolutely chuffed as she has a No.1 album AND a new entry in the singles chart with ‘Next To Me’ going in at No.2. I should imagine there were a lot of celebrations in that household over the weekend!
As for new tunes, I’m absolutely loving the Gotye single at the moment, it’s a track called ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’! It’s just totally blown up and I love the lyrics as well as the video! The video is very simple and low budget, yet it works very effectively. I was in Denmark recording when I first heard this track and it immediately stuck in my mind. i just can’t stop listening to it.
This is on repeat on my stereo at the moment, alongside the new Chris Brown track ‘Turn Up The Music’ which is a massive tune! Another song that is always far too loud in my car is the Wretch 32 and Josh Kumra track ‘Don’t Go’ – the man just has an amazing voice and I never tire of listening to it!
So there’s a lot of good music out there at the moment, and I’m intrigued to see what new music will be coming through next week! With The Brits this week I’m fairly certain we will see Adele shoot straight off back up the chart!.

Alexandra sat down with 4Music for an in-depth interview in which she talks about everything from the new album sound, to plans of the American launch and some rumored collaborations.
Believe me, Beasties, this interview is full of great info. that you’ll all want to check out.
Elephant is very different to, say, Start Without You. How did that clubbier sound emerge?
I’ve been writing this album for a very long time. I’ve been working on it for about a year and a few months. I had three weeks of a writing camp when I came back from the States and that’s when Elephant came to life. My A&R said it was such a great track that we should try and get Erick Morillo on. It took less than 24 hours for him to say Yes. He produced it. It didn’t take much encouragement from me to think it would be my first single from July last year, but Erick put the icing on the cake. He made it happen.
It is really different to the music that I’ve done but I don’t have a fear of doing something different and being a little bit dangerous. My sophomore album is a risk but I love it because I’m doing things that are slightly out of my comfort zone and out of the box. I’m growing up. If I want to talk about it, I’m gonna talk about it, whether that be sex, love, rock’n’roll, anything. I’m a woman now!
Is Elephant representative of the sound of the album as a whole?
It’s very, very different to what else is on there. What I really wanted to achieve with this album was great music and allow people to have fun. Although I’m talking about serious situations, it will still hopefully make the listener get up, boogie and have a good night out. It’s very colourful, it’s loud, it’s bold. It’s really in your face!
I’ve taken inspiration from 90s club anthems. That’s had a major influence on my album. It’s big songs.
How many singles before the album drops?
Maximum of three. Who knows? I could throw the album out there for free next week. Who knows what my crazy self will do?
I wanted to give a double-disc album, but I was shut down so hard. I would say a maximum of 14 songs but I wanted it to be a lot more. From single two, my fans will definitely be getting some B-sides. With Elephant there is a Breathless version of Elephant, which is completely stripped back and slowed down, just a piano and me. The reaction is always that it’s never going to work but it’s amazing.
Alexandra has written a new blog for The Huffington Post and in this one she speaks about Valentines day and gives some very good relationship advice.
Be sure to catch up on the latest blog below.
Hey everyone… hope everyone is good and surviving the cold!
So after the drudge of January comes February, and the day that most females either love or hate depending on your relationship status… it’s the dreaded Valentine’s Day!
I never know how to feel about Valentine’s Day. I think it was always a funny one when I was younger… although now I am so busy I don’t really have time to give it a second thought. For example, I’m in full promo swing at the moment for my new single Elephant, and last week I flew to Denmark for two days to finish some bits for the album and then was holed up in rehearsals for the rest of the week… so my mind doesn’t perhaps play on it as much as it did when I was a bit younger!
If you had asked me five years ago where I would be today, I would have said that I wanted the whole lot – before X Factor I was really into being part of a couple and being in a long-term relationship. I wanted the boyfriend, the marriage and the kids (although that part would be in years to come!) but now my views have really changed.
When you are in a relationship outside of the spotlight it’s hard enough to keep the spark going, but trying to do that in the media glare can be quite challenging. I dread the question in every interview I do when they ask me about my relationships. I’m pretty open in interviews and will talk about most things, but that is one thing I do try to keep to myself as to whether I am single or in a relationship – because the moment that relationship stops and it breaks up, it’s a huge new story. Sometimes I don’t really want to talk about those things, that’s a part of my life I like to keep to myself.
My mum always used to say to me that you must remain single for your male fans (my mum was the former lead singer of Soul II Soul) but I disagree with that – I don’t think that has any sway on my fans, I don’t think they would be that affected by it. For some artists however it can play a part. From a male point of view it can be different I think as sometimes the female fans can be a bit more tricky, and feel like they have more of a hold over the artists. I think that just shows how dedicated fans can be though – fans do really make the whole music cycle keep turning, they are the crux of everything and I am so thankful to my loyal fans who have been their supporting me from day one.
So, for me the whole relationship thing is just something that I’m putting on the backburner and something that will come later. I’m having far too much fun at the moment and doing the job of my dreams so a girl really can’t complain.
Although saying that… if anyone wants to send me a card, some chocolates and whisk me away for a romantic dinner I wouldn’t say no!
Alex has been updating her official Sound Cloud page with brief messages to The Beasties.
Check out the two latest updates – one being a tribute to late reggae legend Bob Marley and the second speaking about the new music video for “Elephant”.
